They said he was “washed”, couldn’t perform anymore, wouldn’t fit in with a team…sound familiar?
We see it so often in companies. Things change, roles change, teams change and instead of putting the pieces of the new puzzle together, people throw the whole puzzle away and try to buy a new one to fix the problem, but usually end up worse off.
In the process, people often cast off key assets and create a false narrative around people’s ability to step up to the plate and adapt.
If anyone has ever tried to put you in a box and then try to get everyone else to perceive you as someone that needs to stay in that box (shut up and dribble, keep your head in those spreadsheets and keep quiet, show up to the meeting and don’t use your brain when what people are saying doesn’t make sense for the company, focus on campaign execution and don’t open your mouth about strategy, etc.)…
Don’t stay in the box, don’t retreat, stand tall and show the world what you have to offer.
